‘Lok no win no lose

Pollok saw their eight-game winning streak come to end as they were held to a 1-1 draw by bottom of the table Thorniewood United at a saturated Robertson Park.

Davie Winters had a good chance for the ‘Lok when his turn and shot was deflected wide for a corner.

From Tam Hanlon’s front post corner Allan MacKenzie flicked the ball goalward, only to be denied by the woodwork.

The home rearguard managed to clear the ball for a throw in from which the visitors would take a 34th minute lead. MacKenzie received the ball from the shy and, with some strong play, managed to free some space for himself to curl a beauty into the corner of the net from a wide angle.

The homesters deservedly restored parity in the 66th minute after ‘Lok captain Paul Gallacher was penalised for a foul on ex-’Lok star Davie Hamilton in the box. Daly McSorley stepped up to take the resultant penalty and despatched it confidently, despite Jordan Longmuir guessing the right way. The last chance for each side came during time added on, Pollok via a Jamie Darroch volley which went well over the bar, and Thorniewood via Stefan Law attempting to capitalise on a poor Longmuir clearance, but putting the ball wide.

This Saturday, Pollok host Premier League side Hurlford United in the West of Scotland Cup. Kick off at Newlandsfield is 1.45pm.
