Pollok ensured that 2014 would end on a high note with a 3-2 away victory over Ardeer Thistle on Saturday.

Pollok took a 28th minute lead, great work on the bye-line from Allan MacKenzie saw him cross to Davie Winters, who cut inside and drill the ball past home goalkeeper Paul McCann.

The home side were reduced to 10 men two minutes later when Scott Reid was shown a straight red card for a foul on Jamie Darroch.

Ardeer were back on level terms in the 52nd minute when Ross Stewart sprung the offside trap . The ‘Lok took the lead again in the 62nd minute, MacKenzie found space in a wide position to pick out Winters who gratefully accepted to notch his brace.

Pollok were given the ideal opportunity to wrap the game up in the 78th minute after MacKenzie was felled in the box.

John Sweeney stepped up to take the spot-kick but was denied when McCann guessed right.

Less than a minute later, Thistle had again restored parity, Stephen Reid breaking away to beat Jordan Longmuir with a low drive. The winning goal came in the 87th minute, Ardeer failed to clear their lines at a corner, the ball eventually breaking to Paul Gallacher who lashed it home.

Shettleston will first foot Pollok at Newlandsfield Park this Saturday. Kick off is at 1.45pm.
