Lok’s winning ways

Pollok continued their recent run of good form with a 3-0 victory of Yoker Athletic at Newlandsfield Park.

While the park may have been saturated the game itself was far from a washout with both teams creating plenty of goalscoring opportunities.

The ‘Lok had their goalkeeper, Jordan Longmuir, to thank for the scoresheet remaining blank at half time as he pulled off a string of fine saves. The homesters’ John Sweeney did have the ball in the net, but this was ruled out for an infringement.

‘Lok had another goal chopped off towards the beginning of the second half, Davie Winters adjudged offside.

The deadlock was broken in the 65th minute, Ryan MacBeth setting Winters free, the striker’s patient play allowing Findlay Frye to have a shot that broke to Kevin Bradley, who was on hand to poke the ball past Craig Winslow from close range.

The lead was doubled eight minutes later, Bradley’s breakaway dribble was matched by the run of the overlapping Frye to meet the winger’s pass with an explosive finish.

The scoring was completed in the last minute of normal time after Kieran McAleenan’s cross broke to substitute Jamie Barclay who volleyed home from six yards out.

The ‘Lok travel to Cumbernauld on Saturday to take on Kirkintilloch Rob Roy. Kick off at Guy’s Meadow is 2pm.
