Luke and Oliver pick-up silversat championship

Giffnock North’s road runners made a good show of themselv es at the weekend, at the Renfrewshire Road Race Championships in Greenock.

The club’s Luke Traynor took on Kilbarchan’s international marathon star Derek Hawkins over the senior five-mile event.

But Hawkins’ relentless pace proved too strong. Yet, Traynor fought on for a good second place, and his 24 minutes, six seconds effort is the third fastest in the UK this winter.
