Managers on the move

After a string of poor results Matt Coulter has resigned as manager of Kilsyth Rangers and on Monday Clyde FC parted company with manager John McCormack, whose short-term contract was due to expire at the end of the season.

Since Kilsyth Rangers' Scottish Cup exit to Tayport at the end of November, only one draw and eight defeats in league and cup matches have made Coulter's departure all but inevitable.

However, the club have wasted no time in appointing his successor, and Eric Sinclair has taken up the post and was in charge for the game at Renfrew on Saturday, although he had little opportunity to make any changes ahead of the match.

Eric is a former Kilsyth player, who joined the club from Bo'ness United at the beginning of the 1974-75 season and scored eleven goals in a comparitively short time, before leaving to join Dundee after Rangers exited the Scottish Cup to Kirriemuir that November.

He spent almost ten years at Dundee, scoring many goals and then had short spells at St. Mirren and Airdrie before returning to Junior football with Linlithgow Rose.

Since then he has managed several Junior clubs including Camelon Juniors and, more recently, Bo'ness United, with whom he achieved promotion back into the East Region Premier Division before leaving at the end of last season.

Eric is resident in Banknock and faces a big task in rebuilding a side which is facing relegation and with a squad of players who have a confidence crisis at present.

Following the departure of John 'Cowboy' McCormack from Clyde, the club issued a statement saying: "The club has reluctantly accepted that relegation looks inevitable and feels it should be looking towards next season earlier than usual. Last summer's difficulties were well documented and the club wants to avoid any repetition and feels that putting its plan in place over the next few weeks is important rather than starting another search in the summer for a new manager.

"In the meantime, as is customary in this type of situation Neil Watt in his Director of Football capacity will take charge of the team for Wednesday's league match with Alloa Athletic and thereafter until the end of the season. It is not anticipated that any early appointments will be made.

"The Board of Directors would like to thank John for his unquestionable effort and enthusiasm over what is currently a very difficult period for the club. He has worked tremendously hard, unfortunately that has not been matched by results."
