The 16-year-old won the singles title at the Grade 4 event by beating fellow Scot Ewen Lumsden - also from Bearsden originally but now living in Lenzie.

Aidan won the first set on a tie break, lost the second 6-1 and then came back to win the third, again on the tie break.

And he also landed the doubles title, again at the expense of Ewen, when he and Douglas McIntosh teamed up to beat Lumsden and Hamish Stewart 6-3 6-4 in the final.

Aidan, who played in this year’s Junior Wimbledon, got to the singles final with wins over Sergios Kyzas (Cyprus), Francesco Liucci (Italy), Luke Simkiss (Great Britain) and Constandinos Christoforou (Cyprus).

Having been on opposite sides of the net in Nicosia, Aidan and Ewen will team up this weekend when they - and Ewen’s big sister Maia - spearhead the Scottish challenge to land the Home Nationals Championship which is taking place in Cardiff.
