Medal haul for Tryst wrestlers

Tryst Lions wrestlers recently competed at the 2014 East of Scotland Open held in Edinburgh Napier University and returned home with an amazing haul of eight golds, two silvers and four bronze medals.

Ciaran Keelan (27k), Amy Keyes (57k), Lee McKeown (57kg), Finlay Marshall (76kg), Scott Wilson (82kg), Lewis Waddell (82kg ) Dawid Czubak (90kg) and Cameron McKay (100kg) dominated their respective weight classes to be crowned East of Scotland champions.

Joe McCluskey (44kg) and Stuart McKay (76kg) took silver while Haden Kirkpatrick (31kg), Shaun McDonald (35kg) Samuel Galloway (39kg) and Bobby McLucas (76kg) did well to claim the bronze medal.

A delighted Coach Steven McKeown said: “It’s great to see so many of our young wrestlers compete for the first time. They have put a lot of effort into training and these results are their rewards. Hopefully there will be more to come. The older boys also did themselves proud and we will be aiming to build on these results.”

If you are interested in the sport of wrestling, the club trains on Tuesdays and Thursday nights in the Tryst Sports Centre, Cumbernauld, between 7-8pm for kids and 8-9.30pm for adults. Both boys and girls are welcome.
