Milton Rovers YFC score massive cash injection

THE young soccer stars of tomorrow at Carluke-based Milton Rovers YFC are enjoying upgraded training facilities after the club scored a grant of over £4000 from UK Steel Enterprise (UKSE) and the South Lanarkshire LEADER programme.

The football club, established for over 20 years, welcomes more than 200 young people to its Carluke pitches for training on a weekly basis.

Volunteer co-ordinator Ian McKnight said: “We recently welcomed five new teams of four to eight-year-olds to the club, who we could not have provided for without the portable floodlights allowing us to use more pitches in the evenings.

“Funding and support is always welcome and it’s particularly rewarding when local organisations like UKSE and LEADER recognise the positive work we are doing with kids from the area and reach into their pockets to help.”
