Minerva marched into the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup with this victory on Saturday on a heavy Ferguson Park.

The match started as a scrappy affair with both teams trying to find their way.

Minerva started to take control and had the bulk of the possession, but their final ball let them down.

The visitors were at times playing some nice football, but once they reached the final third Minerva’s back line snuffed them out.

Minerva took the lead on the 30 minute mark after good work by McAcauley on the wing. He delivered a great cross for Tullis to flick on with his head to find Mackie, who slotted home at the back post.

East Kilbride started the second half much better as they tried to find the equaliser, but once again Minerva limited them to few goal scoring opportunities.

After a couple of tactical substitutions Minerva then added to their tally to make it 2-0.

Good build up play saw Graham deliver a great ball to player/manager McKie, to flick and slot the ball home past thee keeper.

Minutes later Minerva killed the game off as a contest when good skill by Mackie in the corner let him send in a wonderful cross for Smart to head home at the back post to make it 3-0.

There was to be no more scoring and Minerva now progress to the quarter final of the Scottish cup where they will travel to either St Pats of Dumbarton or Dalziel in Motherwell.

Next week Minerva travel to Scottish Cup holders Hurlford Thistle for a last 16 tie in the West of Scotland Cup.
