At the weekend the ladies played their first National Inter Club League match at the stadium against the Headwell club from Dunfermline.

It was the first outing for the new shirts the ladies had acquired over the summer and they were hoping for a successful start. From the beginning it was not looking too good for the team as they were quite a bit behind their opponents with only one of their teams ahead.

However, by halfway all the teams had caught up and pulled ahead further as the game progressed, eventually winning by 68 points to 49. This was a very good result against a more experienced team.

Cumbernauld skips: Ruth McIntyre 16-16; Linda Fleming 19-16; Margaret Wightman 25-17; Jan McMillan 8-0 (walkover).

Indoor bowls is a great game to get involved in especially during our winter months when you can just come in and have a game in a dry warm environment or just have a cup of tea or coffee and watch the games with friends or make new ones.

The club is open to non-member to have a game, shoes and bowls are available. Phone Lorraine on 01236 727852 for further information.
