Olympic star backs sports showcase

PUPILS at St Cadoc’s are the latest to join Olympian Lynne Beattie in promoting a sporting showcase for East Renfrewshire’s youngsters.

The London 2012 volleyball star is encouraging childrenaged from P4 to S2 to sign up for the Sports and Dance Showcase, which is taking place at the new Eastwood high sports centre next weekend (August 24-25).

The event has been organised to mark one year until Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games glory.

Eaglesham girl Lynne (27) has been meeting East Renfreshire’s youngsters to tell her sporting story, starting when she was a pupil at Mearns Castle high.

Children will be able to try out a range of sports and actvities, which are all being run by local clubs.
