Queens Park striker Ian Watt signs for Carluke Rovers

TO show that football can indeed be ‘a funny old game’, a striker who played against Rangers in front of 50,000 fans earlier this season has agreed to play in the slightly less glamorous surroundings of junior football’s Central Division 1.

Ian Watt (22), has joined Carluke Rovers on loan until the end of the season, just a few months after his Ibrox adventure when he came on as a substitute to play for the last half hour against his boyhood heroes.

“Running on at Ibrox was a dream come true for me,” said Ian.

“I felt a lot of emotion as I went onto the field.

“I had to enjoy the moment because you don’t get too many like that in your career.

“I did all right when I came on. I did a lot of running and never gave any goals away!”

And that 2-0 Division 3 defeat at Ibrox in October was not Ian’s only performance against Rangers this season.

He also played from the start in Queens Park’s 1-0 league loss at Hampden in December.
