Ravenstruther boxer Willie Hutchison’s Euro gold
RAVENSTRUTHER marvel Willie Hutchison has become the first Scots-born junior boxer in history to win a European Championship gold medal.
Willie (16), of Newhouse Park Farm, recently landed the prestigious honour with a 70kg final triumph in Anapa, Russia against a home boxer being roared on by hundreds of fight fans.
The teenager’s dad Willie Snr said: “I’m very proud of my son for what he has achieved. Great Scottish boxers like Ken Buchanan, Ricky Burns and Jim Watt never managed it, yet my son has.”
