Resolution kicks in as QP get a win under their belts

AFTER a year to forget, Queen’s Park hope 2014 can bring more good fortune for the Hampden side.

The Spiders have been welded to the bottom of SPFL league two for the entirety of this season so far, but with the New Year comes renewed hope.

Not only do the Hampden side boast a new manager with the return of former club captain Richard Sinclair after the departure of Gardner Speir, but they also began 2014 in unfamiliar fashion, by winning.

The struggling southsiders, who are currently languishing at the bottom of the league, defeated promotion contenders Clyde 2-1 in a Glasgow derby at Broadwood Stadium.

The win was thanks to a first-half strike from Stefan McCluskey and a late winner from Thomas Collins.

The striker scored his first ever goal for QP after collecting Spittal’s pass and tucking in a low finish 18 minutes from time.

QP will hope to continue their resurgence under their new gaffer on Saturday, when Stirling Albion make the trip to Glasgow.
