Cumbernauld had travelled through looking to pick up only their second win of the season against the only side they had beaten so far.

When the sides had met earlier in the season Cumbernauld ran out 24-21 winners on the day so confidence was high amongst the visiting side.

And they got off to the perfect start when Paisley knocked the ball on from the kick-off and, following a good break from winger Davies, Cumbernauld no 8 Cowie was held up over the line.

However Cumbernauld had a penalty advantage and opted to kick into the corner for the lineout and after a clean ball off the top and some slick passing in the backs, winger Rice scored in the corner for a 5-0 lead.

Paisley responded 10 minutes later, as they took full advantage of a scrum opportunity in Cumbernauld’s 22, allowing their inside centre, with a deceiving side step, to score under the posts.

The try was converted to give Paisley a 7-5 lead.

The rest of the half was dogged by poor tackling from the visitors and this allowed Paisley to score two more tries before the interval, with the aid of some poor refereeing missing a couple of clear knock-ons throughout the half.

Both tries were converted for a half-time score of 21-5 in Paisley’s favour.

Cumbernauld started the second half as they had the first, on the front foot, and were rewarded for their efforts when, off a five-metre lineout, the forwards setup a driving mal to power over for the try accredited to Jonathan Kenny, cutting the deficit to 21-10.

Any hopes of a comeback however were short lived as Paisley won the ball from the restart allowing their backs to go in too easily after some missed tackles scored to make it 26-10.

With 20 minutes to go, and Cumbernauld tiring, the home side showed their evidently superior fitness to score three more tries giving a final score of 45-10.
