Lenzie rugby girls secure sponsorship deal with Kirkintilloch firm Hamilton Robertson

With sports clubs throughout the country facing huge financial uncertainty due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic, the deal with Hamilton Robertson Insurance Brokers is particularly timely.

The team, which plays and trains at Lenzie rugby pitch, can now play in branded match kits supplied by the firm, headquartered in Kirkintilloch.

The fast-growing rugby club attract members from across East Dunbartonshire and beyond and more than 20 girls now play in their under-14s and under-16s’ teams.

Graeme Robertson, director of Hamilton Robertson Insurance Brokers, said: “Although our firm is now trading nationally, Lenzie has always provided a great client base for us, especially in our early days in business, and we will never forget this.

“We wanted to give something back to the community, and when we had the opportunity to sponsor Lenzie Rugby Girls, we were delighted.”

Welcoming the news, coach Glenn Barnett said: “This is a fantastic gesture by Hamilton Robertson, and on behalf of the team, I would like to thank the company for their generosity.

“The kits ensure that the team will look as professional as they are when they play.”

He continued: “The girls are an amazing group of very committed and dedicated players, and securing this sponsorship is testament to their hard work and outstanding ability.”

Team captain Juliet Mone has been playing rugby since she started secondary school and is keen to encourage more girls to try it out.

“I love playing for the team. Rugby is great exercise and we have a lot of fun too,” she said. “It can be a great confidence boost, and I have found the team to be very accepting and friendly. If you are interested in joining, give us a try.”
