St Cadocs make cup semi final

Remarkably, it was St Cadocs sixth away tie in a row in this fantastic cup run.

Airdrie started the stronger, and good physical presence saw them 2–0 up as the game headed towards half time.

St Cadocs had a lot of the play but could not find the net until Martin Paul fired in a long range shot just before half time.

Rory Bradley kept St Cadocs in the game with some great saves, but St Cadocs were giving as good as they were getting. Midway through the second half Adam Hannah was fouled and Martin Paul fired in the resultant free kick from 20 yards to make it 2–2.

As the game headed towards extra time both sides had chances but some good play from Jamie Waddell and Kieran McKay saw the ball finds its way through to St Cadocs striker, Chris McFadyen, who needed no invitation to strike a first time shot into the net sparking joy amongst the travelling support.

St Cadocs will now contest the semi final against either Inverurie of the North East or Glenafton.

Raymond Cooper was outstanding and lifted the man of the match Award.

Meanwhile, Giffnock soccer centre Thistle U17s have made it to the Scottish Youth Cup semi final where they will play Aberdeen’s Broomhill BC.

The tie is to be played on March 24 at Rutherglen Glencairn Juniors.
