Stop the rain

THE FIXTURE farce continued for southside rugby clubs last weekend.

The hotly anticipated top of the table clash between Falkirk and Cartha was postponed for the third time on Saturday.

Meanwhile Whitecraigs, who visit Ardrossan, will hope it’s third time lucky this weekend, after two cancellations because of flooding.

And GHA, who have not played since February 1, are again without a fixture.

Cartha stand-off Wayne Burrows is itching to go on Saturday.

He told ExtraSport: “We are keen to get the game under our belt.

“I don’t think anybody likes it when you get mentally prepared for a game and it gets called off, especially when it keeps happening.

“We have a fresh, young squad who just want to play rugby.

“A lot of our new additions this year have made a big difference.

“Last time we played Falkirk, we let the game slip away in the second half.

However, we have had plenty of time to think about how to stop them.

“But we know we have to match them up front.”

If the game does not take place at Dumbreck this week, Cartha risk being forced to give up their home advantage and head to Falkirk.

Weather permitting, both fixtures will kick off at 3pm.
