Lanark and Upperward Pony Club’s district commisioner Diana McDonald said: “The performance of the Lanark riders was absolutely stunning. Lanark ‘A’ are the top team in Scotland at the moment and our ‘B’ team could be a close second!

“We are going to an Area 19 competition at the end of the month down at St Boswell, in the Melrose area and our team is looking outstanding for that.

“Victory there will qualify us for the zone finals in July against teams from England, Northern Ireland and the whole of Scotland.”

To further emphasise the fact that Lanark are going places, they also impressed on day one of the Racecourse contest on April 25. Lanark ‘A’s total of 89 points that day was only four adrift of the winning Scottish team, while Lanark ‘B’ ended that Saturday with 78 points.
