In the 17/18 girls 50m breaststroke Shiona McClafferty had an excellent swim to finish second. Shiona also reached three other finals.

Erin Snow and Ellarose Stewart were also finalists.

Lanark coach Karen Kelly said: “Shiona is going to Stirling University soon and this was probably one of her last events for the club.

“She has represented the club with distinction; in mainstream swimming winning District medals and reaching finals at the nationals.

“She has represented Britain at European and World Deaf Championships, was a European finalist and won bronze at the World Championships.

“All this can’t be achieved without a great level of commitment to training.

“Shiona really is a 4 ‘A’ swimmer – Ability, Attitude, Attendance and Application.”
