For Rebecca was recently selected to represent Scotland at the World Baton Twirling Federation’s International Cup in Vancouver, Canada this August. She will contest the solo twirl, two baton and artistic twirl events.

Rebecca, who has been twirling since she was five years old, is ecstatic to be representing Scotland for the third time, having previously attended the 2011 International Cup in Florida and this event’s 2013 staging near Amsterdam.

She said: “I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to represent my country again. It’s very exciting.”

Rebecca’s coach Shirley Craig is understandably proud of Rebecca’s achievements.

She said: “Rebecca sustained a nasty knee injury in November 2013 after our return from the Netherlands.

“So medics advised no twirling for six months which actually stretched to a full year.

“Rebecca has trained really hard to get herself back to full fitness.

“Only someone with her work ethic, determination and attention to detail could have achieved what she has in such a short time scale.”
