This is the world’s largest youth handball tournament with over 1000 teams and 18,000 players from 50 countries.

For the entire week the centre of Gothenburg is taken over by handball with approximately 60 games taking place at the same time, all day, every day, starting at 8am and finishing at 7pm.

Every age group, from under tens right through to under 21s, boys and girls, is catered for.

Tryst have participated at Partille Cup on a number of occasions in previous years and this year the girls and boys are entered in the under 14 age category.

As the standard of opposition is extremely high and Tryst are competing against vastly more experienced teams from strong handball nations, expectations are modest but realistic. But from previous visits Tryst know that if they play to their maximum and give 100 per cent then they are more than capable of earning the respect of the counterparts and providing the occasional surprise result.

The format of the competition is for each team to be entered in a group consisting of six teams and to play each of the other teams in the group before moving on to the knockout phase of the competition.

In these round robin group stages, the boys have been drawn in a group that includes teams from Denmark and Egypt.

Meanwhile the girls are up against sides from countries including Norway and host nation Sweden.

The club have been doing some fund raising to help subsidise the cost and would also like to thank Clubsportnl for their contribution towards the trip.
