Tryst women win Scottish league

Tryst ’77 retained their womens Scottish League title with victory over Edinburgh in the final league game of
the season.

The win completed an undefeated league campaign for the Cumbernauld side and saw them retain the title they won last season.

After the demands of a heavy end of season, Tryst were missing a few players but still hoped and felt they had a strong enough team to safely negotiate the game.

Tryst went in to the game 3 points ahead of Edinburgh, who were their nearest challengers and the only team that could stop the new town side from winning
back-to-back titles.

It was effectively a league decider and Tryst came flying out the blocks to try and establish an early lead. They managed this with a number of fast breaks and soon opened up a 5 goal lead.

Edinburgh battled hard and soon had the scoreboard moving as well but Tryst were able to retain and then increase their lead with further fast breaks. They continued to drive on and steadily add to their goal tally and whilst Edinburgh showed plenty of fighting qualities Tryst were determined to hold on to their title. As the lead increased and time counted down, Tryst retained their focus and it was only on the final whistle they were able to celebrate
their success.

With the league season now over for the women, the teams now look towards the Scottish Cup with the draw for the semi-finals to be made in the coming weeks.
