UNITED shot themselves in the foot five minutes from time.

At 3-2 ahead, Bankies attacked up their right flank. United had at least four opportunities to get the ball clear. They failed and allowed the ball to be crossed into the box and Bankies' Dallas smashed the ball into the net to make it 3-3. United had to be content with one point.

United gave a good account of themselves and should have won comfortably. Gary Gibson put United 1-0 up after four minutes when his cross come shot looped over keeper Gonet and the ball went into the goal at the far post.

Buoyed by this United settled and both midfields played out the game till the 28th minute when United's Thomson brought down Bankies' Hailstones inside the box with a rash tackle. Martin hit home the spot kick to level the game 1-1.

United to their credit attacked and forced a corner that was half cleared and four attempts at goal by United were blocked and cleared. Then after 42 minutes Gibson, from an angle, saw his shot hit the inside of the post then rebound clear of the goal. So, level it was at half time.

Hitting into the Village end goal in the second half, United gave Clydebank a run for their money and went 2-1 ahead after a Steele free kick was palmed out and Gary Gibson was on hand to net. Bankies were by no means out of it, were still menacing United, but the home side still felt victory was at hand and it looked like it after Kenny Jarvis hit home an angled drive after 60 minutes. Bankies now rolled their sleeves up and reduced the leeway to 3-2 when Crawford was on hand to net.

The last 15 minutes was all Bankies but United's defence was holding firm until the 85th minute when Dallas equalised. United showed they can compete against the top of the league clubs but just seem to lack at times, to keep them at arms length at crucial times.
