THIS was a well deserved win for Cumbernauld United in this keenly anticipated local derby.

It was a disappointing day for the Rangers fans who had hoped for better after their recent good form. It lifts United into within two more wins to ensure first division football next season. Rangers will have to get at least another three to join them.

It was a much better day for football than in recent weeks with the pitch looking in good condition despite snow and frost in mid-week.

United made a good start and were moving the ball about very well. Rangers by contrast, looked sluggish with passes going astray.
