Upperward curlers brush up well

UPPERWARD Ladies Curling Club champions from the season just finished were delighted to receive awards from the club’s Janet Telfer at the prize presentation night in The Mill Inn, Coulter.

Ruth Provan, secretary of the club which is based in Douglas. Lanarkshire, said that the 2012-13 season had been “another enjoyable year with exciting club games and interclub competitions”.

And she wasn’t wrong, with several members brushing up very well!

Results were: Jean Plenderleith (League) Trophy 1 Anne Smith (skip), Ruth Provan, Janette Hope & Mairi McGinniss, 2 Carol Gentle (skip), Jan Drife, Lillias Hyslop & Irene Murray; Addison Salver 1 Ruth Provan (skip), Ella Coubrough, Margaret Taylor & Linda McCaskie; Hope Trophy 1 Sandra Anderson (skip), Janet Drife, various reserves; Rothman’s Trophy (Pairs) 1 Ella Coubrough & Mairi McGinniss.
