We’ll take the win, says new coach Booth

Glasgow City’s unbeaten run continues after a 2-0 win over Spartans in Edinburgh on Tuesday, thanks to first half goals from Denise O’Sullivan and an own goal from the home side.

Head coach Scott Booth said: “I was delighted with the win but frustrated I must say with the performance. Credit to Spartans. They caused us our own problems early on in the game and created some good chances.”

City took the lead after only 20 seconds on the clock when Denise O’Sullivan finished from close range.

Hayley Lauder had the ball in the back of net three minutes later but her effort was ruled out for offside.

Spartans enjoyed a couple of chances to get back in the game, but a good save from Lee Alexander denied Michelle Russell the goal.

An own goal on 34 minutes secured the three points for City after Abbi Grant sent a looping effort towards the back post following a Leanne Ross corner, which the Spartans rear guard could only knock into their own net.
