Glasgow’s Drygate Brewery launches Rockdown: a virtual festival in your living room

Glasgow brewery Drygate Brewing Co is combating isolation blues and keeping the summer festival spirit alive with the launch of Rockdown – a free weekend-long digital gathering of live music, DJs, comedy sketches and more, being streamed directly into living rooms across the UK.

Launching on April 25 and 26, Rockdown is Drygate’s first-ever virtual festival and marks the latest step in the Glaswegian brewery’s mission of highlighting creative talent across Scotland and uniting communities during lockdown.

Featuring acts such as Aberdonian rockers Cold Years, singer-songwriter Michael Cassidy and folk singer John Rush, Rockdown showcases Scottish talent across music, comedy, writing and performance, with the full line-up set to be released in the coming weeks.

All acts will be streamed live online so people can tune in from their own homes. Those tuning in are encouraged to don their wellies and set up camp in their living rooms to bring the festival vibe to their front room.

Festival beer packs will be available through Drygate’s online store and delivered straight to the door in time for the weekend.

The packs will contain an assortment of Drygate’s signature line-up, such as their Core Range offerings and exclusive limited Small Batch brews, along with branded merch for that authentic festival feeling.

Live-stream links of the acts will be collated and shared on Drygate’s website and social media channels.

All acts are welcome to join in the festivities and any interested parties are invited to download an information pack

Drygate is encouraging audiences to donate to acts in whatever way they suggest, to support creators during this difficult time.

Matt Corden, Managing Director at Drygate, said: “The current climate has changed our lives significantly, but it has also given us an opportunity to bring people together in a different way.

“With Rockdown, our aim is not to run a commercial event, but to provide a focal point, connecting acts and audiences.

“It’s an incredibly challenging time for hundreds of thousands of people, performers, small businesses and more, so we wanted to do what we could to gather the best talent Scotland has to offer, and make life in isolation more fun.”
