Our top 5 acts from Tenement Trail 2023

Scotland’s festival for music discovery hosted 51 acts across eight venues in under ten hours.

Tenement Trail returned to Glasgow’s East End last Saturday, holding spotlight to new and local acts, and shaping the trajectory of the city’s music scene. After attending the event, we’ve compiled a list of five acts we found particualrly impressionable.

Lizzie Reid headlined the BBC Introducing stage in the Barrowlands 2, a performance I have already relived many times over. The vocals, the instrumentals, the songwriting, it was all so delicate and intricate, forming ensembles of beautiful harmonies and hard whispers. The only downfall of this set was that the room was bulging with people and my view was entirely obstructed.

While I did not personally see this band as they were on early in the day and had already finished before I had a chance to find my bearings, I think they deserve a mention because of the number of people we spoke to who said this was their favourite act. I for one will be keeping an eye out for their next show.
