First time visitors to Glasgow may struggle to say the name of the city - let alone some of the city’s more interestingly named neighbourhoods.
There is a tendency for tourists to say Glass-cow whilst the pronunciation of Scotland’s largest city is, of course. Glaz-go. So with the name of the city already causing issues, we hate to think how people will get on with street names and neighbourhoods.
Here are some of the places in and around Glasgow which have their own distinctive way of being pronounced by residents.

21. Springboig
The East End neighbourhood is near to Shettleston, Barlanark and Greenfield. The pronunciation is Spring-boyg. | Google Maps

22. Strathbungo
Although it may look easy enough to pronounce, the area on the Southside of the city is reffered to by locals as Strath-bung-go. Photo: Google

23. Carmyle
An East End suburb, Carmyle could be described as having a village character about it. The pronunciation of the area is Car-mile. | Google Maps

24. Jenny Lind
An area which may not be too familiar with some in the city is the small neighbourhood of Jenny Lind. It shares a common border with Deaconsbank and is pronounced Jeh-nee-lind. | Google Maps
