Parkhead mother and daughter bingo players hit £56,000 jackpot twice in the one month

A mother daughter team have proved to be a winning combo, hitting the jackpot twice at Mecca Bingo, and netting over £56,000 between them this month.

The lucky winners from Glasgow, scooped the £50,000 jackpot on Thursday 14 November playing on the National Bingo Game, but just a week earlier, they’d won the £6,000 jackpot on Mecca’s Lucky Stars game. The winners, who wish to remain anonymous, are known to be regular customers at the Forge Market venue in Parkhead, always playing together and pooling their winnings. The fabulous £50k jackpot is triggered when a player matches all the numbers on their ticket and claims ‘house’ within the first 16 numbers being called.

Duty manager, Stephanie Donlin, has recently joined the team at Mecca Forge, and got to tell the couple how much they’d won; “They were so shocked. The daughter had won the £6,000 jackpot on our Lucky Stars game only the week before, and on the night of the National Game win she was one who reached over and hit the ‘claim’ button on her Mum’s tablet. Although they knew they’d won something, neither of them had realised that she’d done it within the first 16 numbers being called so had no idea how big the prize was.”

The caller on the session was Isobel Spencer, who gave away the National Game £50,000 jackpot to another lucky player last month. “Isobel has worked here for 27 years and has given away so many jackpots that I’m surprised the customers haven’t started rubbing her for luck!” laughed Stephanie.

The lucky winning duo played it cool and were so calm that rather than celebrate they carried on playing and didn’t go up to claim their prize until the end of the session.

Stephanie added; “Bingo is a game of chance and speed, and for our winners to hit the jackpot twice in two weeks is incredible. We couldn’t be more delighted for them! It just goes to show that lightning really can strike twice.”

The latest jackpot win marks the sixth big National Bingo Game jackpot win in the Glasgow area this year: one £125k jackpot at Mecca Paisley, two £50k wins at Mecca Drumchapel, plus three £50k wins at Mecca Glasgow Forge – making it one of Mecca’s luckiest regions.
