One of the finest examples of an island bar open-plan pub in Scotland. It has the longest continuous bar in the UK, measuring 32m (104ft 3in). Built in 1870 and remodelled in 1885–7 by John Scouller and again in 1901, when the partitions between sitting rooms and the bar were removed
10. Sloans
Hidden away behind the jewellery shops of Argyle Arcade a bar that dates back to 1797 with one of the city centre’s best beer gardens. Known for their movie nights, Friday night ceilidh and macaroni cheese menu.
11. Queens Park Cafe
This popular south side local is well-loved by the community around Queens Park. Mark McManus of Taggart fame regarded the Queens Park Cafe as his local. There’s been a pub on the site as far back as 1870.
