Three men jailed after 'brutal attack' in Glasgow after Ibrox Old Firm clash

The three men, Scott Dragsness, Ben Stanex and Andrew Graham, were sentenced to 18 months, 12 months and 12 months imprisonment respectively, and given a seven year football banning order.

Three men have been jailed and banned from football for seven years after what police have described as a “brutal attack” in Glasgow earlier this year.

Scott Dragsness, 55, Ben Stanex, 24, and Andrew Graham, 21 pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court on 14 October, to the assault of a 48-year-old man to severe injury and danger of life.

On Sunday, 8 March the man was seriously assaulted on Helen Street, Glasgow following a football match. The three men responsible were identified and arrested soon after.

Today they were sentenced to 18 months, 12 months and 12 months imprisonment, respectively.

They have also all been given a seven year football banning order.

Superintendent Derrick Johnston said: “This was a brutal attack and I am in no doubt that this will affect the victim for the rest of his life.

“The assault was witnessed by a number of members of public and captured on mobile phone footage at the time.

“Everyone has the right to attend a sporting event with their family and friends without having to witness this disgraceful and shameful behaviour and should be able to go home unharmed.

“We will not tolerate football related violence and will ensure that those responsible are held to account.”
