Work has started at South Crosshill by the Loretto Housing Association to bring more social housing to Bishopbriggs

Work has begun on a new £7 million housing development in Bishopbriggs. 

Loretto Housing Association is building 44 new homes for social rent at Boclair Mews on South Crosshill Road.

The development is being built by David Wilson Homes with a high energy efficiency rating, helping tenants save money on their energy bills. 

The site benefits from being part of an established community and within easy walking distance of amenities for residents. 

Loretto is part of Wheatley Group, Scotland’s largest housing, care and property management organisation. 

Wheatley Group Director of Development and Regeneration Lindsay Lauder said: “We’re excited work has started at South Crosshill.

“Increasing the supply of affordable, energy efficient homes is always great news for our tenants. These spacious, modern properties will make a difference to the lives of Loretto tenants for years to come. 

“Thank you to our partners at the Scottish Government, East Dunbartonshire Council and David Wilson Homes for their support – these homes will be a great addition to Bishopbriggs.”

It is expected the homes will be ready by late 2025. 

Wheatley Group, which owns and manages over 93,700 homes including Loretto Housing, was recently named as the UK’s biggest builder of social housing over the past decade. 

David Scott, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes West Scotland, said: “Partnering with Wheatley Group to deliver this high-quality, energy-efficient accommodation further demonstrates our commitment to providing affordable homes across Scotland.

“New tenants are set to benefit from the development’s energy efficient rating, saving them money on their monthly bills. We are proud to be involved in the project and look forward to welcoming residents to the South Crosshill community in 2025.”

The project is being funded with £2.5 million from Wheatley and over £4.4 million in grant funding through the Scottish Charitable Bond programme, which is managed by Allia C&C for the Scottish Government.
