

The turnout for yesterday’s referendum was one of the highest in the country at 90.5%.
The results, announced at 4.30am this morning, showed 41,690 (63.2 per cent) of East Ren residents opting for No against 24,287 for Yes.

Eastwood MSP Ken Macintosh attributed the No swing to voters concerned with issues such as education, and added that East Renfrewshire is a “very politically aware constituency”.
