The Classic Car Show is back!

Over 40 classic and vintage cars have already been registered for the 2nd Classic Car Show in Milngavie precinct on Saturday, June 18.

Some of the cars are dated as far back as 1933 and they will have wide range of Jaguars, Minis, BSA, MGT’s, Hillman Super Minx, a few ford Anglia 105’s, an Austin 7 tourer, Marcos, Morgan 4/4, Ferrari, a fire engine from 1956, a VW camper van, a Corvette, some rally cars and vintage/classic motorbikes!

All cars will be distributed across the whole precinct and it will be free event for the public.

The event take place between 10am and 4pm and marks the end of the newly revived Milngavie Week which started on Saturday, June 11.

Milngavie Week, which ran from 1966 until 2006, has been brought back by popular demand by a local volunteer group called ‘Making the Most of Milngavie’.

The week begins with the Highland Games and ends with the BID’s classic car show with a whole load of other events in between, some traditional and some new.

Already confirmed are a series of contests, including:

A cat show for children, bring your own cat!

A dog show.

Arnold Clark sponsored car treasure hunt.

Duck race on River Allander, organised by Rotary of Allander, is set to be another big draw in the festival calendar.

Schools’ debating from Douglas Academy looks set to be a hotly contested competition, while the best kept garden (organised and judged by Milngavie in Bloom) will bring a riot of colour and flowers of all varieties throughout the town.

The Classic Car Show is organised by Business Improvement District (BID) as a one of their annual projects and they will also have small area with market stalls and food stalls.

Ania Surma, one of the BID organisers, said: “We are also planning kids street entertainment.

“Last year the event was a huge success and we had over 30 beautiful classic and vintage cars on display.

“Hundreds of people visited our town centre to see it and we believe that this year will be even bigger and better!

“We will also have few surprises in terms of cars and exhibitors!

“Each car has unique history which will be displayed at the event.

“We are really looking forwards to the show and to welcoming people from near and far to Milngavie so they can see everything that it has to offer.”
