Two-year-old Gregor Tough inspires fundraising campaign

A LANARKIAN toddler's fight against leukaemia has inspired a major fundraising campaign in support of children all over Scotland facing the same battle.

When wee Gregor Tough was born two years ago he was, naturally,

surrounded by the love of his family from the very start.

However, that circle of affection and care grew wider and wider as his

condition became known.

And his parents decided to turn potential tragedy into triumph by mounting a local campaign in support of the cancer charity, Clic Sargent.

"I suppose it's a way of helping us all cope with the situation," explained mum Louise, who now lives with Gregor and his dad Calum in Cleghorn's Silvermuir Avenue after moving there recently from their home town of Lanark.

"It's also a way of saying thanks for all the wonderful help and support Clic Sargent has given us since Gregor's condition was diagnosed.

"We initially thought that he was suffering from tonsilitis and it was tests for that which showed up the leukaemia.

"They say that there's an 85 per cent survival rate and we're absolutely certain he's going to make it.

"He's a wee fighter and we just don't see him giving in to anything."

Gregor is currently undergoing chemotherapy at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.

Lousie and Calum would like to invite anyone inspired by Gregor's story to support Clic Sargent through their son's fund page at www.bmycharity.com/gregortough.
