Benjamin Siegrist’s news was celebrated by team-mates Adam Idah, Joe Hart, Greg Taylor and more

Celtic goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist took to social media to celebrate his engagement to Reality TV star Brittany Hockley.

The Swiss shot-stopper, 32, shared the heartwarming news in a point post with Hockley on their Instagram account with the caption: “In any lifetime it’s a YES! Just two people loving each other for the rest of our lives.”

In one of the photos, Brittany appears over the moon as she flashes her sparkler while holding a flute of bubbles on a deserted beach with her fiancé.

Another frame appears to catch the moment Benjamin dropped on bended knee and proposed to the reality TV star-turned-podcaster.

A number of Siegrist’s team-mates were quick to congratulate him on the news in the comment section. Celtic’ recently retired goalkeeper Joe Hart commented: “Love it congrats guys.”

Celtic defender Lager Bielken added: “Congratulations.”

Former team mate Aaron Mooy and defender Greg Taylor both said: “Congrats.”

While Adam Idah reacted with a smiling face and heart shaped eyes emoji.

Brittany went Instagram official with Siegrist in January last year. According to the Daily Mail, the pair got to know each other through a celebrity data app called Raya and apparently first met in November 2022 during the World Cup when Celtic were playing a friendly against Sydney FC.

The pair are currently in a long-distance relationship which sees the couple split their time between Glasgow and Australia.

Siegrist has been based in the UK since breaking through the Aston Villa academy in 2012. He enjoyed loan spells at Burton Albion, Cambridge, Solihull Moors and Wycombe Wanderers before making the permanent switch to his homeland in 2016 when he played two years for FC Vaduz in Switzerland.

His form earned him a move to the Scottish Championship with Dundee United in 2018 and within two seasons he was celebrating promotion to the top-flight. Siegrist played a total of 121 league appearances and was regarded as a fan-favourite at Tannadice Park but agreed to leave the club on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.

Since then Siegrist has been a back-up goalkeeper at Celtic behind Joe Hart. He played two League Cup games on his side's route to the treble last season but is yet to represent the Hoops in a league match.
