Chris Sutton shares 'big concerns' for Celtic as ace in focus after deploying Storm Boelo explanation

Celtic managed to get a victory in their latest game and their Wolves loanee has assessed it.

A Celtic star has been told to bin the excuses after blaming Storm Boelo for parts of the Hoops display at Hibs.

Jason Kerr’s own goal and a Camilo Duran effort before half-time sealed victory for Martin O’Neill’s men after Owen Elding had initially put Hibs ahead. The Hoops were reeling off a Europa League loss to Celta Vigo, but returned to winning ways in the Premiership, having thumped Hearts 7-1 a week earlier.

Chris Sutton was watching over the game that was played amid the swirling conditions of Storm Boelo that hit parts of the UK over the weekend. Sam Johnstone, signed on loan from Wolves in the summer window, was in goals and said post-match the weather made passing difficult for Celtic. It wasn’t something the club hero was buying from the Wolves loanee as concern was expressed over midfield and Alistair Johnston, who exited the game with an injury upon his return from a muscle problem.

Chris Sutton on Hibs 1-2 Celtic

Sutton said in a series of social media posts. “Sam Johnstone blaming the weather for sloppy passing is a stretch I think. Can’t fault Celtic domestically. Not a great performance but 3 points against Hibs after another European loss. Still big concerns over that midfield area and second balls the longer the game went on. Duran class finish but looks unhappy on the right. Gutted for AJ hope he’s ok!”

Wolves loanee Johnstone said after the Celtic win over Hibs that was broadcast by Sky Sports: "Yeah, a great win. Tough place to come. Really tough conditions, That's a massive win for us. They gave it their all, and we had to defend really well. Difficult, but for everyone it's the same.

“When the ball goes in the air, you don't know where it's going to go, There were a few sloppy passes. It was tough but the lads dug in. It's always good to play. I love playing, and the goal of the group is always competition, to push each other every day in training and support each other."

Martin O’Neill assesses Celtic win vs Hibs

Manager O’Neill said post-match: “Absolutely delighted with it. Considering the circumstances, considering the conditions and considering what has happened on Thursday. I thought this was our best win of the season and we didn't play particularly well in the game.

“It was even better than last Sunday. Thankfully, we did score so quickly after the Hibs goal and we got the winning goal. It's a difficult afternoon even in good conditions for me. I always find Easter Road really difficult."
