How to watch Sporting Lisbon vs Celtic and predicted Hoops XI for latest pre-season friendly
Everything you need to know about Celtic’s fixture with Sporting Lisbon
Celtic will face Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon in a pre-season friendly as part of their preparations for the 2026/27 season.
The match will be the second of four pre-season fixtures scheduled for the Hoops. In their last outing, they drew 1-1 with Shelbourne at Tolka Park and will now face Sporting Lisbon in Portugal. After that, they’ll have consecutive home fixtures against Middlesbrough and AC Milan respectively, before their league campaign gets officially underway against Dundee at Celtic Park on August 3.
The Shelbourne fixture gave manager Martin O’Neill a chance to give some fringe players a chance to prove themselves for the season ahead. Since then, the squad have travelled to Portugal for their warm-weather training camp. The Sporting clash is expected to be a much tougher test against last season’s Champions League quarter finalists. Here’s everything you need to know about how to watch the friendly, as well as a Hoops predicted XI:

When and where will Sporting Lisbon vs Celtic take place?
The match will take place on Tuesday, July 14 at the Estadio Algarve. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:30pm (BST).
Is there a livestream for Sporting Lisbon vs Celtic?
Yes, while the match won’t be broadcast on any traditional UK TV channels, viewers can tune in via the Celtic Player. Subscribers in the UK & Ireland and overseas can watch all the action from 5.15pm (BST).
Why did Celtic travel to Portugal for the warm weather training camp?
Ahead of the trip to Lisbon, in an interview with the club, O’Neill said: “We’re going there to intensify the work. It’s really important for us now, we’ll have double training sessions as much as possible, players trying to get used to conditions, but more or less practising things we were hoping to do in the course of the season that I don’t think we had the opportunity to do because it was a mad rush from January onwards. I’m saying all of these things and hopefully they will come to fruition, but just ways of breaking teams down a wee bit more quickly, and when people get into one-on-one situations, have the confidence to take people on, things like that.”

What is Celtic’s team news ahead of the Sporting Lisbon friendly?
World Cup participation and international action means Alistair Johnston, Auston Trusty, Anthony Ralston, Kieran Tierney, Benjamin Nygren, Yang Hyun-jun, Sebastian Tounekti and Daizen Maeda were all granted extra time off, meaning they didn’t travel to Portugal. However, available for selection will be new striker Camilo Duran, who met his teammates last week at the camp after finalising his £6m move from Qarabag. Midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also available after signing a new contract.
