Motherwell FC duo Declan Gallagher and Stephen O'Donnell help Scotland qualify for Euro 2020 finals
The Fir Park defensive duo both played impressively as our national team – managed by Steve Clarke – won their play-off in Serbia after a dramatic 5-4 penalty shootout win to qualify for next summer’s coronavirus-delayed Euro 2020 tournament, the first major tournament this nation has reached since the 1998 World Cup in France.
Scotland took an early second half lead through Ryan Christie’s stunning low shot in the one off play-off final, before the Scots endured heartache in the final minute of normal time when an unmarked Luka Jovic headed in from a corner.

Hide AdThe concession of this goal was devastating for every Scotland fan watching the game live on TV and meant the game progressed to extra time.
Scotland had been the better team throughout the 90 minutes but looked heavy legged in the 30 minutes of overtime, although they managed to take the game to penalties.
The first nine spot kicks in the shootout were all scored, with Scotland’s goals coming from Leigh Griffiths, Callum McGregor, Scott McTominay, Oli McBurnie and Kenny McLean.
It was then that wild scenes of celebration were sparked by Scotland keeper David Marshall diving to his left to save Aleksandar Mitrovic’s kick and send us to the Euros.
