Every Rangers signing rated as Tottenham loanee sparks transfer hope but summer misses proves costly
Rating every new Ibrox addition this season out of 10 based on overall impact and future potential
As Rangers’ 2025/26 season draws to a close, here’s a look at how each of the 18 new signings rated in their debut campaigns.
The season began with Russell Martin at the wheel as he signed 14 new players during the summer, but after results weren’t going his way on the pitch, he was dismissed after seven league games in charge. Then came current boss Danny Rohl, who somewhat steadied the ship with the help of four January additions, however four defeats in a row during the league run-in left their title hopes in tatters. In chronological order, Glasgow World have rated each new signing based on their impact this season and future potential:
Lyall Cameron (loaned out) - 6/10
The former Dundee man showed signs of promise during his six Rangers appearances before being farmed out to Aberdeen. Having enjoyed sufficient game time at Pittodrie, there’s every chance the 23 year old will come back to Ibrox a better player.
Max Aarons (loan) - 3/10
Coming with Premier League experience, the Bournemouth defender come with expectation but wasn’t able to deliver. An early sending off against Club Brugge in their Champions League play-off decider set the tone.
Joe Rothwell - 2/10
Less said about this one the better. Another player with bags of experience south of the border but couldn’t cut it in the Scottish game. Signed for Sheffield United in January just five months into his three year contract.
Emmanuel Fernandez - 8/10
Rangers’ Player of the Year for the season was a shining light in an otherwise shaky defence. Having attracted Premier League attention, they’re set to enjoy a profit on the £3.5m they paid Peterborough for him.
Thelo Aasgaard - 5/10
One of the marquee summer signings that has shown glimpses of quality but lacked consistency. There’s a player in there, which Rohl will be hoping to find next season.
Nasser Djiga (loan) - 6/10
A shaky start for the Wolves loanee saw him lose his place in the team, but after an injury crisis at the heart of the defence he made his way back. He has all the attributes to become a top centre half but at this point in time, Rangers need experience.
Djeidi Gassama - 6/10
One of the few Martin signings who actually did hit the ground running but lost his way as the season wore on. Having worked with Rohl before at Sheffield Wednesday, if the manager can get a tune out of the direct winger again it could be a game-changer.
Oscar Cortes (loaned out) - 3/10
The club put themselves in a predicament with the obligation to buy clause in his contract after signing him on loan from Lens. Subsequent loan spell away from Ibrox at Sporting Gijon and more recently Huracan haven’t proved successful either.
Mikey Moore (loan) - 8/10
Rangers fans are crossing their fingers and toes that they can somehow hold onto the Tottenham loanee, who won the league’s Young Player of the Year award. However, given the outside interest and price tag likely to be set by Spurs, it will be a big ask.
Oliver Antman - 4/10
An international, who topped the Eredivisie assists charts the previous season, the winger was another who come with expectation, but hasn’t delivered so far. A big season ahead for the Finn to prove himself.
Jayden Meghoma (loan) - 5/10
Perhaps relied upon too heavily as the club’s only recognised left back. At the age of 19 he’ll have learned a lot from his time in Govan as he now returns to Brentford.
Bojan Miovski - 5/10
A man who once bagged 26 goals in a season for Aberdeen. He may have gotten only half of that for Rangers this season but as a back up striker he’s been okay. Although the signing of Lawrence Shankland could slide him down the selection pecking order.
Derek Cornelius (loan) - 4/10
Made 12 appearances before suffering a severe hamstring injury while on international duty in November. Despite returning to fitness in March, he never played for Rangers again. The Canadian now will return to parent club Marseille.
Youssef Chermiti - 6/10
Eyebrows were raised when Martin spent £8m on a man with just three professional goals to his name, especially after some early missed sitter. But all things considered, 15 league goals in his debut season isn’t a bad return. Interesting to see what he can do alongside the experience of Shankland next season.
Tochi Chukwuani - 6/10
The first signing of the Rohl era is clearly a player the manager admired given his minutes. Not a world-beater, but a player who likes to keep the ball and get stuck in when required, who now has enough experience in Scotland to kick on.
Tuur Rommens - 7/10
An unfortunate injury at the wrong time for the Belgian meant he missed some crucial post-split fixtures. Before that, he made the left back position his own with some assured performances. Could be a huge player next season.
Andreas Skov Olsen (loan) - 3/10
A poor campaign for the Denmark international, whose output on the right hand side was minimal despite huge expectation. The quality Rangers fans were told they were going to get didn’t arrive, as he now returns to recently-relegated Wolfsburg.
Ryan Naderi - 6/10
Like Rommens, an unfortunate injury towards the end of the season come at a less than ideal time. Before that, whether it be behind Chermiti or an out-and-out number nine, his work rate and hold up play was promising.
