Everything you need to know about this week’s Old Firm Derby
Rangers face Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final this week in the first Old Firm derby of the 2026/27 campaign.
Managers Derek McInnes and Martin O’Neill are preparing to part one of the grudge match double-header, as Rangers travel to Celtic Park next week in the Premiership. The Light Blues go into this week’s match off the back of five domestic wins on the trot - a run which started in their previous League Cup clash when they hammered St Mirren 5-1 at Ibrox.
Celtic’s 4-0 win at Tannadice against Dundee United in the last 16 ensured they were still in the hat. O’Neill’s side have maintained their 100% win domestic record and are looking to continue that at the weekend. In a match where no away fans will be allowed in the stadium, here’s how viewers can tune into the Old Firm derby, as well as some other useful match information:

What is the team news for Rangers vs Celtic?
Winger Daisuke Yokota has been the latest long term Rangers injury casualty as he’ll be out for up to three months with a groin issue. Strikers Youssef Chermiti (ACL) and Lawrence Shankland (hamstring) also won’t be available along with left back Tuur Rommens (groin). Right back Kosta Nedljkovic remains a doubt after picking up a foot issue.
Right back Alistair Johnston is ‘making good progress’ in his bid to return from a hamstring issue but Sunday will come too soon. Winger Jota (ACL) and striker Callum Osmand (ankle) remain out, along wth full back Landon Emenalo who is still carrying a minor injury he picked up before signing on loan from Chelsea. Winger Yang Hyun-jun won’t be available as he’s competing at the Asian Games for South Korea.
What have both sides said ahead of the clash?
McInnes is hoping that Ibrox will be a cauldron against their bitter rivals and is asking fans to play their part. He said: “I think it’s important that we tap into having that 50,000 behind us. Be behind the players, support them, have their backs, not be on their backs and really make it as tough for Celtic as possible.”
Meanwhile, ahead of the match, O’Neill spoke of he’s going to try and incorporate striker Kasper Hogh back into the team after his spell out injured, alongside partner Camilo Duran. He said: “If it meant us having to adjust to get them to play together, that shouldn't be a problem. Famous last words, but it shouldn't be. And this is the point. We should be able to adapt. We've played this 4-3-3 system for quite some time.”
