Rangers enter 'advanced talks' over summer transfer target as negotiations commence on two stars

Rangers are making moves on a midfield option that could boost Derek McInnes’ squad.

Rangers are said to be progressing in transfer talks over one of their summer targets.

Midfield is an area where new boss Derek McInnes has strengthed the Light Blues ahead of a Premiership title bid. Dan Neil and Cammy Devlin have already arrived with several others linked. Two of those are Partizan Belgrade’s Vanja Dragojevic and Tromso’s Jens Hjerto-Dahl with talks ongoing over both of them.

Dragojevic is the one that is further along in talks over a move to Rangers and could become their seventh summer signing after Lawrence Shankland, Ben Godfrey, Ross McCrorie and Ivor Pandur alongside their midfield additions. Final details need ironed out but there is optimism that a deal will be concluded.

Who are Rangers close to signing this summer?

Sky Sports claim: Rangers are in advanced talks to sign Partizan Belgrade captain Vanja Dragojevic in a £4m deal. Ibrox chiefs have been in talks over a move for Dragojevic, plus fellow midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl of Tromso.

“While elements of the deal are yet to be finalised, Rangers are hopeful Dragojevic will become the club's seventh summer signing. The 20-year-old is rated as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Serbian league and has two caps for his national side.”

Meanwhile, Findlay Curtis is aiming to make a Rangers impact, after returning from a loan to Kilmarnock. The winger inspired Neil McCann’s side away from relegation danger and earned a place in Scotland’s World Cup squad in an outstanding six months. Curtis told Rangers TV: “It has been unbelievable. I can’t thank Killie enough for what they have done for me, and then leading into being in the World Cup squad, that is obviously every kid's dream.

Findlay Curtis on goals at Rangers

“It is one of those ones where you can't really sit on a bench at this age; you need to go out and showcase your talent, and I did push for the loan; I think it was the best thing for me. I didn’t think it would be possible at this age, and it is one of those where you need to live in the moment. I relished it, and it was some experience, and hopefully there are many more to come. If you go and do really well, it will stand you in good stead, but even if you do really bad, you then get learning experiences to go out on loan again and show what you are.

“I have always wanted to play football; I love scoring goals, and I love getting assists, and I think that is who I am. You just need to be confident in yourself, and I am certainly showing that at the moment. It has put me in good stead for this season, and I can't wait to get going. I am really happy to be back at Rangers now, and I just want to showcase my talent here. We just have to keep on training hard; we are only three weeks away from that game against Dundee United, so we have to be prepared for that.”
