Rangers hero turned agent urges club to run a mile from Wolves player chase as £10m valuation cut in half
The player has spent this season on loan at Rangers from Wolves.
A former Rangers defender turned FIFA licenced agent insists his ex side shouldn’t be putting up the type of money Wolves are said to be demanding for an Ibrox target.
Nasser Djiga has overcome a ropey start at Rangers to form a key central defensive partnership with in-demand Emmanuel Fernandez. The Burkina Faso international will head back to Molineux this summer with his future unclear, as his parent side have been relegated to the English Championship from the Premier League, while Rangers are said to be keen on a permanent swoop.
A transfer fee in the region of £10m has found its way to the rumour mill but Craig Moore is not convinced the Light Blues should be stumping up even half of that. He feels there is better value for money to be found elsewhere. It was put to the former Rangers defender turned agent that Wolves are reportedly looking for in the region of £10m for their star currently loaned to Ibrox.
Should Rangers sign Nasser Djiga this summer?
Moore responded on Go Radio when asked about Djiga and if Rangers should spend that type of of money on the defender: "I would tell Wolves to keep looking for that money elsewhere.
“£4m, four to five. Again, for me, it's still a lot of money to spend on a player that has done okay. If you've got four or five million and you can go out shopping, Paul, I'm still convinced I'd be able to get better than Djiga. It's a lot of money still.”
Ex Celtic and Scotland forward Andy Walker was also on the panel. He responded: "I don't think Rangers are in the business of signing ten million pound players. I don't think it's the model that they want to try and look at and do on a consistent basis. And in all honesty, I don't think he is worth that amount of money.”
Will Emmanuel Fernandez leave Rangers this summer
Fernandez meanwhile has responded to claims of interest in his services as Arsenal and West Ham United are both reported to be interested after a successful first season following his switch from Peterborough United. He said ahead of this weekend’s Premiership match with Motherwell: “I haven’t heard anything. I see myself being here.
“I’ve still got four years left on my contract and I’m happy I’m here. I’m happy to carry on being here. I don’t really read into stuff like that. I’m just focused on the job that I’m doing here. If there’s noise going on, I’m happy for the noise. It’s a great achievement, I guess, knowing that you’re doing well.
“But right now, I’m focused on taking it game by game and winning the title and bringing it back for this club. I love it here. I feel like the team is very good at this moment in time. I don’t think there’s many teams that could stop us, but we’ve just got to keep staying together and playing the football that we know we can play and taking opportunities.”
