Rangers transfer approach branded 'scattergun' as one brutal word used to sum up squad after recruitment drive
Michael Stewart has insisted that there appeared to be no strategy at Rangers in terms of transfer business this summer.
It was a busy window of comings and goings at Ibrox despite a need to sell in order to buy. In the way came Liam Kelly, Connor Barron, Clinton Nsiala, Jefte, Nedim Bajrami, Robin Propper, Hamza Igamane, Vaclav Cerny and Neraysho Kasanwirjo while Connor Goldson, John Lundstram, Borna Barisic, Kemar Roofe, Ryan Jack, Jon McLaughlin, Jose Cifuentes, Sam Lammers, Ben Davies, Scott Wright, Todd Cantwell and Robby McCrorie made way.

Hide AdCriticism has been rife in the wake of a 3-0 defeat to Celtic in the Premiership on Sunday. Daizen Maeda, Kyogo and Callum McGregor goals put a spotlight on Rangers after a sobering loss and former midfielder Stewart has insisted there was little in the way of strategy when it comes to summer recruitment.
He also uses one word to land a critical blow on what he thinks of this Rangers squad compared to last term - weaker. Stewart told Premier Sports: “There’s no question that Rangers are a weaker squad then they were last season.
“But I go back to the point that there does certainly feel like there’s a lack of strategy in terms of where do they need to strengthen. It just seems a little bit ad-hoc and scattergun.”
After the international break, Rangers return to Premiership action away to Dundee United before a home Premier Sports Cup quarter-final versus Dundee. That will be at Ibrox after delayed renovation works forced them into Hampden for their opening matches in August.
