With the transfer window now open for business and clubs already getting stuck in, let’s take a look at the latest Glasgow links as the two juggernauts gear up for another competitive season in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers starlet wanted by Premier League trio

Rangers’ rising star Archie Stevens remains a target for English clubs this summer as three Premier League sides are said to be ‘admirers’ of the youngster, according to FootballTransfers. Nottingham Forest, Wolves and West Ham are all monitoring his situation at Ibrox, while Leeds United — who were recently snubbed of promotion from the Championship — are also keeping an eye on the 18-year-old.

Forest have been keen on Stevens since the January window, while Manchester United reportedly registered their interest in the winger back in September last year. The teen is entering the final year of his contract with Rangers and has made just one senior appearance for the senior team after coming through the ranks.

Stevens, who is part of the England U18 national side, signed for Rangers in 2022 and made his first team debut at just 16, but he has not managed to break into the senior set-up on a permanent basis. However, the winger is viewed as one of ‘the brightest sparks’ in the Ibrox B tea.

Celtic handed potential goalkeeper boost

Celtic remain on the transfer market for a new goalkeeper following the retirement of Joe Hart. While Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher has been claimed as a target for some time now, his fee remains a stumbling block for the Hoops, forcing them to cast their net out further afield.

Another Premier League shot-stopper has emerged on the radar in the former of Aston Villa’s Viljami Sinisalo, who is out of contract in 2025 and spent last season out on loan with Exeter City. The 22-year-old Finland international is valued at a reported £3 million, a much more cost-friendly option to Kelleher.

Celtic may have also been given an opening in their pursuit of Sinisalo as Aston Villa are making approaches of their own. According to Portuguese outlet Mais Futebol, talks have ‘taken place’ between Unai Emery’s side and Luiz Júnior of Famalicão. Villa are looking to bring the Brazilian to the club this summer and are ‘willing to offer’ £8.5 million up front, plus a further £1.5 million in add-ons. Should the move come to fruition, it will further push Sinisalo down the pecking order, opening up room for Celtic to swoop.
