What Jim Ratcliffe + Joel Glazer have said about new Rangers chief who was 'invaluable' at Man Utd

Here’s what key Man Utd figures have said about the new arrival at Rangers.

Rangers have a new CEO at the helm - and he comes with endorsement from Man Utd.

Patrick Stewart has been named as the successor to James Bisgrove at Ibrox after a lengthy process to find a new leading man behind the scenes. Amid operating losses and poor performance domestically on the park, the news comes days after Nils Koppen was elevated from recruitment chief to technical director.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a co-owner of Manchester United and the founder, chairman, and chief executive of INEOS, had warm words for Stewart who left Old Trafford earlier this year after 19 years across various roles. He was most recently their interim chief executive.

Joel Glazer, executive co-chairman of Man Utd, was also of praise for Stewart and Cliff Baty, who departed his role at the same time as Rangers’ new CEO. The club are in Europa League action vs Nice and their new hire begins his work on December 16th.

Ratcliffe said: “I would like to personally thank both Patrick and Cliff for their support in helping us get to know the club and making us feel welcome and I respect their decisions to now move on as we establish a new management team for the club.”

Glazer said: “I would like to thank Patrick and Cliff for their dedicated service to Manchester United and wish them well for the future. Both have been a source of invaluable advice and expertise over many years, and Patrick has served an important role as interim CEO during this transitional phase.”
