It was the worst possible start for Ryan Finnerty’s men, who conceded two goals in the opening minutes of the game.

Bryan Schmidt got the final touch on an effort from Cam Janssen in the first 34 seconds of the game to open the scoring.

Then Juraj Kolnik was on hand to slot home a second for the home side just 25 seconds later, after being set up by Brad Moran.

Clan managed to get themselves on the scoresheet in the second period as Alex Leavitt scored his first goal of the season, tucking in a rebound from Brendan Brooks’ shot.

But Panthers reopened the two-goal lead later in the session, with Stephen Schultz redirecting Steven Lee’s wrist shot.

Then Schultz completed the scoring with Nottingham’s fourth with a snapshot that flew into the top corner of Chris Holt’s goal.
