Honours even as Glen's are denied

Allan Glen's managed to snatch a draw from the jaws of victory as they tied 25-25 with Kilmarnock after one of the most exciting BT West Division 1 games of the season at The Bearyards on Saturday.

Kilmarnock opened the scoring after 12 minutes when Turnbull showed a clean pair of heels to the Glen’s defence to score in the corner.

Glen’s immediately replied with a great individual try by Kirk who charged from the visitors 22 to score.

Three minutes later he repeated the process and bullied his way over the visitors’ line, Thomson converting.

Ferguson scored for Kilmarnock when a kick ahead bounced badly for the Glen’s defence, the ball all but jumping into his arms.

A drive from a line out near the visitors’ line allowed Lennon to touch down for Glen’s and then Brown kicked a penalty to give Glen’s a 17-15 half-time lead.

Immediately after the break Kirk completed his hat trick after finishing off a good back move.

Brown and Thomson traded penalties and it looked as if Glen’s had the game in the bag - but in the last play of the game, after a sustained period of pressure on the home line, Turnbull squeezed in at the corner and an excellent conversion kick by Brown ensured a share of the spoils.
